Trying to catch the wind in Udaipur!!

Time must be starting to drag already.....having visited the internet cafe twice & this being my 2nd entry in a week. It has been tough though doing less than the daily activities of a manatee, using maniana to full effect & enjoying it.
Our 1st taste of Rajasthan has been a fine 1 & a week in Raju's family Nukkad Hotel, in the heart of Udaipur, most memorable. On the downside there has been a lack of quirkiness to report....just lazing....eating....plenty of meat eating....& the odd Kingfisher.
The centre piece of the city is Lake Pichola and the floating Lake Palace which is currently about as wet as a camels arse....although today, ironically, its pissing down, the day we chose to make to tracks & head for the desert. The city however still carries with it a mystical fairytale charm with an abundance of colourful roof top restaurants.....& numerous staircases to keep our gordito bodies in shape.
Away from nothing there is plenty to do.....tourist dogdging the biggest....far too many....particularly of the French & Spanish variety.....get us back to the mayhem!!! Also on offer.....City Palace....Jagdish Temple (with a shrine to the Lord of the Universe....somewhat puzzled at not seeing Diego????) & the 18thC Bagore-ki-Haveli. Our 1st official tour....well an auto-rickshaw @ $10 for the day....brought us to Shilpgram crafts village, Badi Ka Talab (Tiger Lake) & sunset at Sajjan Garh (Monsoon Palace), precariously perched atop a distant mountain.
Highlight of the week.....other than being offered numerous narcotics point blank infront of the local authorities.....was Dharohar @ Bagore-ki-Haveli....a classical Rajasthani dance masterpiece that puts even our own Signature to shame....the pictures tell it all!!!
It has been fairly stressful avoiding endless re-runs of Octopussy so on we go feeling strangely fine....had a shower last night so shall even treat myself to the 1st change of clothes in a week.....beautiful. X
